Travelers Joins Forces with onHand
Earlier this year, we joined forces with onHand, a volunteering platform designed to help us do good in our local communities across the UK and Ireland. The programme is designed to help boost employee fundraising and volunteering efforts.
With onHand, the opportunities are flexible to suit your schedule – employees can pick up a five minute “mission”, to something more substantial. Sharon Glynn started using onHand during lockdown.
It’s really easy to use. Once you download the app and sign up, the various volunteering tasks are listed for you to accept. And that’s it, you are all set. Volunteering can feel intimidating and time consuming, but onHand makes it easy and, best of all, completely flexible.

Virtual volunteering
With the current restrictions in place across the UK and Ireland, we are only able to support virtual volunteering opportunities at this time, including activities like companionship phone calls and online training sessions for charities including Dementia UK.
I have had some great chats and it has been so lovely talking to people I never would have come into contact with otherwise. At one point, I was having a quick chat with the same person every week, and it was lovely building a relationship with them. Five minutes of your day could make someone’s whole week – you really can’t ask for more than that.
