‘Ashley is without a shadow of a doubt the best surveyor I have ever worked with. I specifically asked that he be involved with the client – his involvement was one of the reasons I recommended Travelers to the client. Travelers provide excellent risk management support anyway, but Ashley is so knowledgeable, practical, approachable and helpful, he really is in my opinion a real asset to Travelers and to our clients. I can’t think of another surveyor I would be happy to visit a client without me or to talk to them directly, but I trust him 100% to give sound advice. I feel we work in partnership on these accounts for the good of the client and this puts us all in a stronger position for retaining accounts long term.’

Taking an industry-specific approach to managing risks

Every industry carries its own set of risks and challenges, both now and in the future. Travelers believes in developing a sound understanding of every industry we work with, to ensure that we can guide a pragmatic and realistic approach to engaging in risk management activities with both current issues and those on the horizon.

Whilst there are risk management fundamentals, we recognise the importance of understanding the risks and challenges that are specific to particular industries and working with our customers to deliver purposeful and well considered risk management advice.

Case study

A residential care setting looked to Travelers following an incident

A residential care setting requested Travelers’ assistance after an incident occurred in one of their premises. The incident involved a new agency staff member entering the supported accommodation area where three service users were present. One of the service users reacted unpredictably and assaulted the member of staff.

Following Travelers’ recommendations, a review of the residential care setting’s safe systems of work resulted in a number of improved practices, including:

      • Amendments to shift handover procedures
      • Improved induction training and lone working procedures
      • A pictorial guide to service users outlining expected behaviours
