Case study

When this customer’s school building suffered storm damage, they reached out to Travelers to make a claim

On the eve of a bank holiday, a severe storm caused a Travelers customer’s school building to suffer major damage to its roof.

This resulted in hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of repairs and the need to temporarily relocate the school until said repairs were completed.

Upon discovery, the customer notified the Travelers 24/7 freephone claims number, and the case was allocated to a Senior Claims Professional (SCP).

The Travelers SCP entered discussions with the customer to understand their situation and provide guidance and support. Instructions were then handed to a loss adjuster, who contacted that customer on the same day.

With help from the loss adjuster, the customer took steps through their own teams to secure and protect the building and conduct temporary works.

Proactive conversations were maintained between the customer and loss adjuster to agree to a reinstatement strategy within two weeks of the damage occurring.

The loss adjusters preliminary report was also received within this time, allowing Travelers to issue prompt interim payments for the works to be completed in line with the agreed-upon reinstatement strategy.

The repairs were finalised within nine months and allowed for the school to re-open in time for the new academic year.
